Strategic TGP |
You’re
in the adult business and you just can’t wait to have the money flowing
in. You thought that you can just play around in this business? Well,
think again. Making money in the adult business requires more work,
persistence, and analytical thinking than you thought. You’re not
playing a game here; you’re dealing with real business.
Many webmasters begin (and sadly, many end) their online adult business
careers with TGPs (Thumbnail Gallery Posts). The TGP content format is
one of the primary ways to view adult material online. It is a page of
links that lead to a gallery of thumbnails which in turn link to larger
pictures. There are two sides of the coin in the TGP business, you can
either be the TGP owner, or you can be the Submitter. Here is some
useful information to help you grow your business.
TGP Owner
Tip 1: Remember that you need more than just clicks to make
money. The surfer has to be loyal to your site so that he would come
back again and again. You need to build a relationship with your reader
base in order for your business to grow. Always update your content.
Make sure you look at your pages from the eyes of a surfer.
Tip 2: Focus on making your traffic grow.
Search Engines:
Be sure that you are always visible in search engines; you have to get
as much exposure as you can. How? Build a lot of pages with text
triggered Search Engine keywords. Be sure that each text page is written
differently from each other, but keeping the keywords in mind at all
times. This should increase your traffic since the more the surfer
clicks on your pages, the more chances you have in getting a purchase.
Blog Marketing:
Stay visible by making blog and guestbook entries, don’t just mention
your URL, make sure you post some mini-story or review type of content.
Mass exposure is the key to getting a permanent base of incoming traffic
Traffic Trading with other TGPs:
Swap traffic so that you can get new surfers, but you are risking losing
some surfers who gets turned off by the fact that when they click on a
thumb they get sent to another TGP. This is unavoidable and a risk you
take. Devote an area of your site for ‘skimmed’ (ie., traded) traffic.
Have an area of your site that is not skimmed which should allow for
retention. These are the areas (blog, story of the day, jokes, etc) that
add IDENTITY to your TGP. Create and enhance your identity so your users
will bookmark and, better yet, refer their friends.
Tip 3: Take care of your surfers. Getting a large volume of
traffic is an advantage, but giving them value is better. Give them
quality content; offer your surfers variety and distinction in your
pages.
Tip 4: Build a good brand identity. Find a good logo or funny
character, and have something unique to your site so that your traffic
will stay loyal to you. The key here is you have to specialize in your
products. People are not just happy seeing pictures of naked women; you
have to know what kind of content your traffic prefers to be able to
cater to their specific needs.
Tip 5: Use FHGs wisely
There was a time that TGP owners were at the mercy of the Submitters.
Today, TGP owners have the option to use FHG (Free Hosted Galleries).
You can take advantage of cutting cost by cutting out the middle men,
however, as advantageous as it may seem you still have to watch out for
the downside.
FHG Pros:
You go direct to the sponsors who pay for the content and the hosting,
and thus cut down your cost. Moreover, the provenance of content
ownership and 2257 regulation is intact so you’ll have less trouble
dealing with legal matters. You can have large files faster and be able
to work on more content at a time.
FHG Cons:
It’s so easy and that is why everybody is doing it. Everybody has the
same stuff being used over and over again. The overall quality of your
content suffers because FHG quality can be very inconsistent. You are
now dependent on sponsors’ gallery making skills. If they are
inadequate, so will your sales. FHG’s also makes webmasters lazy. Some
TGP owners just place FHGs with thumbs and descriptions and let their
scripts go on auto-pilot. This system is so easy that they end up not
paying attention to improving their TGP.
Depending on FHG’s too much is risky. There is a chance that you’ll have
an attitude of not caring about your relationships with your surfers.
Bear in mind that success relies on the loyalty of the people. You might
get too complacent and sacrifice the quality of relationship you have
with your surfers.
TGP Submitter
Tip 1: Take time to get to know your traffic as well. People are
now very discriminating and you have to know their specifications in
porn. Generic looking girls with big boobs won’t always cut it. You have
to know what they like to be able to give them their preferred content.
For example, if you have Asian traffic, let’s say men from Japan. They
usually go for teens, young, anime looking girls with big eyes. On the
other hand, black viewers prefer women who have fuller bodies. They like
thick bodies and big asses. Once you have discovered the porn
specification that they want, give your surfers the type of porn they
desire. This is your sure-fire way of generating income.
Tip 2: Pay attention to what clicks. Pretty does not always make
money. For a start, you can try doing four kinds of layouts.
• Pretty layout- everything here looks sleek and the page was neatly
made with both text and pictures.
• Ugly layout- The focus is more on the quality of the pictures, and is
basically black and white and there is quite a bit of text on the page.
• Colour fields- where the pictures are inside boxes together with the
link.
• Unusual arrangement- these are filled with different pictures in
various arrangements.
Tip 3: See which layout had the most clicks, once you find out
which layout won the race, then it’s now time for you to improve it. Do
more styles and variations of the layout and be creative. Keep on
evolving until you get a profit margin that you are comfortable with.
Being in the adult industry requires a lot of time and effort. This is a
really tough business for the real players. Don’t even try to get into
it of you’re not serious about it. The ones who succeed are the people
who are willing to invest their time and money into their business.
Value your relationships with your Clients, and don’t just bombard them
with content. Give them what they want, the way they want it so that
they will keep on coming back. |
